Handing and Taking Over Duties Ceremony of the ASEANAPOL Secretariat’s Executive Director on 11 January 2024

The handing and taking over (HTO) duties of the ASEANAPOL Secretariat’s Executive Director post was held on January 11, 2024 at the Senior Police Officer Mess, National Headquarters Royal Malaysia Police, Bukit Aman, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.

 

Datuk Seri Ayob Khan bin Mydin Pitchay – the Deputy Inspector General of Royal Malaysia Police cum Host of the Permanent ASEANAPOL Secretariat with Police Brigadier Kenechanch Phommachack - Chairman of ASEANAPOL and Police Brigadier General Nicolas Salvador of the Philippine National Police witnessed the handing and taking over duties between Police Brigadier General Zaw Lin Tun (Myanmar)  the outgoing Executive Director and Police Colonel David Martinez Vinluan (Philippines) the incoming Executive Director.

 

The event was more than just a leadership transition, but also resonated as a moment of reflection for the ASEANAPOL Secretariat, celebrating past triumphs and outlining their bold ambitions. A captivating video vividly illustrated ASEANAPOL Secretariat’s accomplishments and its aspirations to become a leading centre for police strategic cooperation in Southeast Asia.

 

The importance of the ceremony was further amplified by the attendance of distinguished guests, senior police officers from Royal Malaysia Police, Ambassadors and representatives from the Philippines and Myanmar.

 

To mark the significance of the occasion, high-ranking police officials witnessing the HTO exchanged souvenirs symbolising the continuity of efforts and commitment to the ASEANAPOL Secretariat’s mission.  The HTO ceremony also commemorated the 14th year since the establishment of the ASEANAPOL Secretariat in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

 

In essence, the ceremony marked a pivotal turning point in the ASEANAPOL’s history. Witnessing the smooth transition of leadership, ASEANAPOL celebrated its past achievements, while reaffirming support for the future. As Police Colonel David Martinez Vinluan takes the helm, the organisation looks forward to a future of strengthened regional security towards towards the attainment of the collective goal for a safer place to live, to work and to do business.
