The Ceremony for The Handing and Taking Over Duties of ASEANAPOL Secretariat Director for Police Services & Director for Plans and Programmes on 11 January 2023

The solemn ceremony of Handing & Taking Over Duties of Directors of ASEANAPOL Secretariat’s was successfully held today on 11 January 2023 with the attendance of dignitaries from related Embassies based in Kuala Lumpur namely Republic of Indonesia, Negara Brunei Darussalam & Socialist Republic of Viet Nam. The event which was taken place at ASEANAPOL Secretariat office in Kuala Lumpur was graced by the presence of the representative from the Inspector General of Royal Malaysia Police Office, Honourable Senior Assistant Commissioner Azman bin Abd Razak.

As its tradition, the Executive Director of ASEANAPOL Secretariat, Police Brigadier General Zaw Lin Tun then witnessed the appointment of Police Senior Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Huu Ngoc from The Office of Investigation Police Agency, Ministry of Public Security, Socialist Republic of Viet Nam as the new Director for Plans & Programmes replacing Superintendent Tang Yik Tung from Royal Brunei Police Force meanwhile Superintendent Azrul Hisham bin Mohd Shaffei from Royal Malaysia Police assigned as the Acting Director for Police Services (on behalf of Superintendent Dr. Bakri bin Zainal Abidin) replacing Senior Superintendent Joni Getamala from Indonesian National Police.

In affiliation with this most commemorated day, the Executive Directors of ASEANAPOL Secretariat, Police Brigadier General Zaw Lin Tun through his appreciation speech, thanked for the dedication, hard work and passion rendered by both outgoing directors during their service term which contributed an added value to this regional policing bodies in realization it aspires to become a renowned centre for police strategic cooperation in this region. Whilst welcoming and congratulating the newly appointed directors, ASEANAPOL Secretariat truly delighted to accomplish a tight-knit of mutual beneficial working relationship within the existing team in continue to bring the ASEANAPOL to the next level of achievement to the greater height in keeping the Southeast Asia region safe.

The appointment for all new ASEANAPOL Directors is commencing from 1st January this year until end of 2024 as stipulated in the 40th ASEANAPOL Joint Communique 2022 endorsed by Chiefs of ASEANAPOL in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
