MEETING ON JOB SCAM INVOLVING MALAYSIAN CITIZEN IN MYANMAR 13 OCTOBER 2022 (THURSDAY) @ 3.30 PM

Executive Director  of ASEANAPOL  Secretariat,  Pol.  Brig.  Gen.  Zaw Lin Tun, accompanied by DSP Tan Tai Kai, Police Services Officer 1 attended a meeting in Royal Malaysia Police Headquarters, Bukit Aman to discuss forced labor exploitation syndicate in Myanmar. The meeting was chaired by Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) Inspector General Tan Sri Acryl Sani Bin Hj Abdullah Sani and attended by fellow officers from RMP.

The main issue of discussion is related to job scam syndicate in Myanmar and establishing collaboration in locating and rescuing the Malaysian citizens who had become the victim. Pol. Brig. Gen. Zaw Lin Tun suggested RMP to have close cooperation with the Myanmar Police Force (MPF) and Royal Thai Police (RTP) to track down the syndicate that has detained Malaysia citizens in Shwe Kokko near Myanmar- Thai Border. In addition, he also suggested RMP to utilize the Interpol Platform during the 90th INTERPOL General Assembly in New Delhi, India from 18 to 21 October 2022, to establish collaborative enforcement with MPF on the rising case of job scam between both countries.

IGP instructed CID to propose and make preparation for a courtesy visit to MPF which will be assisted by Pol. Brig. Gen. Zaw Lin Tun. The IGP also expressed his gratitude to Pol. Brig. Gen. Zaw Lin Tun for dedicated his time to attend the meeting and reiterated that close collaboration between RMP and MPF could further strengthen the relationship between the two countries.
