Between March
27 to March 28, the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), organized an
interagency meeting on Networking the Networks at CARICC facilities in Almaty,
Kazakhstan.

Secretariat, represented by its Executive Director, Police Colonel Kenechanh
Phommachack and Head of Administration and Technical Staff, Police
Superintendent Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz attended the two day meeting which
brought all new and well established regional agencies across Asia and Europe.
Going with the theme BENATOC (Building Effective Network Against Transnational
Organized Crime) the event was organized to establish effective networks to
tackle transnational organized crime and illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs,
psychotropic substances and their precursors.
The meeting successfully brought representatives of the competent authorities
of CARICC member states, INTERPOL, the World Customs Organization (WCO), CSTO,
the Gulf Police Cooperation Council (GCC-POL), the Gulf Criminal
Information/Intelligence Centre (GCC-CICCD), ASEAN National Police (ASEANAPOL),
the South Asian Regional Intelligence and Coordination Centre on Transnational
Organized Crime (SARICC-TOC), Heads and Experts of Headquarters of Regional
Offices of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime in Vienna, Central Asia
and South Asia, as well as the leadership and staff of CARICC to discuss and
present its role of regional cooperation in facilitating the exchange of intelligence
and coordination of multilateral counter-narcotics operations and terrorism.
Following the event, Mr. G. B. Pustovitov, Police Colonel, Director of CARICC,
suggested that the recommendations of CARICC be considered for establishing
practical interaction among international and regional focal points and related
organizations.
