VISIT BY REPRESENTATIVES FROM INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE OF THE RED CROSS (ICRC) TO ASEANAPOL SECRETARIAT

On 08 February 2018, the Secretariat received a courtesy visit from the Regional Delegate to Police and Security Forces for South East Asia of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Mr. Criostoir Pedder accompanied by Ms. Norma Abdul Hamid. They were welcomed by the Executive Director of ASEANAPOL Secretariat Police Colonel Kenechanh Phommachack, Director for Police Services SUPT Jim Wee and Staff.

During the visit, representatives from the ICRC informed that they would continue their commitment to strengthen their relationship with ASEANAPOL. In addition, the ICRC enhances collaborative efforts, organizing trainings and sharing international best practices. The ICRC has enjoyed a mutually beneficial relationship with the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) over several years and has provided briefings and assisted with training in relation to international human rights instruments, International Humanitarian Laws and policing standards to police personnel being prepared for international missions.

The ICRC is looking forward to achieve stronger collaboration with ASEANAPOL by getting the status of a Dialogue Partners.
