ASEANAPOL SECRETARIAT PARTICIPATES ON A SYMPOSIUM ON HUMANITARIAN LAW

The ASEANAPOL Secretariat, represented by its Executive Director Police Inspector General Yohanes Agus Mulyono and Director for Police Services Ferdinand R P Bartolome, participated the regional symposium “Strengthening Convergence for Humanitarian Action in ASEAN: An AIPR Symposium on International Human Law held at Manila Hotel, Manila, Philippines on October 2-3, 2017.

Aimed to provide a forum for various actors from the ASEAN Member States and Dialogue Partners to exchange views on the theme and sub-issues scheduled  for the occassion, as well as, to come up with recommendations emphasizing best practices and lessons learned, the symposium was conducted to support the ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconcilliation (AIPR). It was held in joint collaboration of the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace Process of the Republic of the Philippines (OPAPP) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and was attended by delegates of the ASEAN Member Countries.

The AIPR was established by the ASEAN Head of States to undertake research activities and provide recommendations in the promotion of peace, conflict management and conflict resolution. It also works for the promotion, support and provisions of assistance to strengthen the culture of peace which will contribute to the ASEAN’s initiative of peace making and peace building in the region.
