The 31st ASEANAPOL Database Technical Committee Meeting (ADSTC) Philippines 17th - 21st March 2014

The 31st ASEANAPOL Database Technical Committee Meeting (ADSTC) was successfully held at Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, Philippines from 17th to 21st of March 2014. One the first day of meeting, Director for Intelligence, Philippines National Police (PNP), Police Director Charles Turalba Calima Jr gave his opening remarks. In his speech, he welcomed all participants to the meeting and states the importance of the meeting as one of many efforts exerted to go against criminal activities challenging the ASEAN sovereignty.

The meeting started with the handing over of Chairmanship of the 30th ADSTC meeting in Brunei to the current Chairman from the Philippines. Police Senior Superintendant Pengiran Mohammed Jefri Pengiran Hj Abdul Hamid extended his appreciation of the Royal Brunei Police for the opportunity to host the 30th ADSTC Meeting in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei. He then handed over the Chairmanship to Police SENIOR Superintendant Antonio Pinto Mendoza from the Philippines National Police and the current chair later invited Superintendant 1A, Bobby Fay Teng Sin of Singapore Police Force as Co-Chairman of the 31st ADSTC Meeting.



The 31st ADSTC meeting was officially open by Guest of Honour, Deputy Chief, Philippines National Police for Administration, Police Director General Felipe Lozada Rojas, Jr. During his keynote address, he appreciated the presence of the delegates and considered the 31st ADSTC meeting as a good venue to discuss common issues on the development and effective utilisation of the e-ADS.

The Secretariat represented by Director for Police Services, ACP Mohamad Anil Shah and ASP for Police Services, ASP Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz. During the meeting, ACP Mohamad Anil noted that the capabilities of the e-ADS have evolved over the years and the next big step is to improve the system further with regards to intelligence analysis capabilities. 





The just concluded meeting saw beside participation from ASEANAPOL member countries, there were representatives from ASEANAPOL Secretariat, ICPO-INTERPOL and ST-Electronics gathered to discuss related matters on maintenance of the e-ADS by member countries. At the same time there were training and an update by the consortium leader on the usage of e-ADS. The INTERPOL-LOBANG shared the progress updates of e-ADS and the statistics of usage and records created by each member countries using the I/24-7.



The meeting also acknowledge that the upcoming 32nd ADSTC meeting will be held in Jogjakarta, Indonesia in 2015.
