Handing and taking over ceremony of the Executive Director Of ASEANAPOL Secretariat

6th January 2014 marked another momentous event for the ASEANAPOL Secretariat as The Royale Chulan, Kuala Lumpur play host for the Handing & Taking Over ceremony of the Executive Director of ASEANAPOL Secretariat.


6th January 2014 marked another momentous event for the ASEANAPOL Secretariat as The Royale Chulan, Kuala Lumpur play host for the Handing & Taking Over ceremony of the Executive Director of ASEANAPOL Secretariat. 

The event has seen the handing & taking over of the post of Executive Director (ED) of ASEANAPOL Secretariat by the then Executive Director, Lt. Gen.Sar Moline, of the General Commisariat of Cambodian National Police (CNP), who ended his tenure on 31st December 2013 to the incumbent ED, SAC Pengiran Dato’ Paduka Haji Abd Wahab bin Haji Omar, of the Royal Brunei Police. 

The solemn ceremony was graced by Police-General Watcharapol Prasarnrajkit Deputy Commisioner-General of the Royal Thai Police (RTP), representative of the current Chairman of the ASEANAPOL.  Also present were guests of honour, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Khalid bin Abu Bakar, Inspector General of the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP) and Comm. Pol. Dato Seri Pahlawan Bahrin Bin Mohd Noor, Commissioner of Police Royal Brunei Police (RBP).  Some 60 over dignitaries from the Embassies, Government agencies and high ranking officers of the (RMP),(RTP) and (RBP) were also present to commemorate the event. 

The Executive Director of the Secretariat shall be appointed by the ASEANAPOL Conference upon nomination on a rotational basis in alphabetical order for a term of two years.  The Executive Director of the Secretariat appointed shall be a senior police officer of the rank of Colonel and above or its equivalent.

As SAC Pengiran Dato’ Paduka Haji Abdul Wahab bin Pengiran Haji Omar, takes over as the Executive Director, the ASEANAPOL Secretariat shall now be administered by the third Executive Director ever since the Secretariat’s  establishment on 1st January 2010, after two previous ED namely ACP Mohd Nadzri b. Zainal Abidin from RMP and Lt. Gen. Sar Moline of CNP.



During his tenure as the Executive Director, Lt. Gen.Sar Moline had successfully spearheaded many initiatives in the area of training and capacity building to enhance effectiveness of the member countries in combating organised transnational crime. The ASEANAPOL Secretariat has gained more awareness from its target audience in the past two years. His tremendous effort has seen the Secretariat taken to greater heights.

The incumbent ED has had a well rounded career with the Brunei Police Force, especially with over twenty years of experience in the field of investigation. Having attended many international forums and with his vast experience, the present ED will continue to be the pillar of strength to the ASEANAPOL Secretariat, thus promising good leadership in achieving the Secretariat’s main objectives of ensuring effective implementation of adopted resolutions of the ten Chiefs of Police of ASEAN National Police, in their fight against organised transnational crime in the region.
