ASEANAPOL Participates Virtually in VI International Conference on Extremist Ideology – Moscow, 29–30 September 2026

Pursuant to invitation, the ASEANAPOL Secretariat virtually participated in the VI International Conference on the Problem of Spreading of Extremist Ideology, held on 29–30 September 2026 at the International Trade Centre, Ladoga Hall, Moscow. The conference gathered delegates from many countries, law enforcement, security services, academia, and religious leaders, both on-site and online, to address modern trends of extremism.

Key highlights from the program:

Day 1 – Plenary on Global Threat Assessment: Focus on complete eradication of international terrorist organizations and preventing the use of extremist groups in hybrid warfare and interference in sovereign states. Discussions on how extremist ideology is gaining momentum in the virtual world and spilling into the real world, with AI, deepfakes, algorithms and encrypted platforms as force multipliers.

Day 2 – Prevention and Best Practices: Three priority areas:

1. Strengthening inter-ethnic and inter-religious relations;
2. Protecting the younger generation from online recruitment;
3. Improving migration policy and social-cultural adaptation.

Emphasis was placed on preventing the spread of fascist and neo-Nazi ideas and falsification of history, and the need for deradicalization and reintegration through family and religious institutions.

The official program also included a solemn ceremony of laying flowers at the Monument to “Soldiers of Law and Order” at Trubnaya Square, paying tribute to fallen law enforcement officers.

Key Takeaways:

• Digital-Physical Nexus: Same tools used for cyber fraud and extremism.
• Youth is the most vulnerable target.
• Prevention requires interfaith dialogue, cultural preservation, and community policing – not enforcement alone.

ASEANAPOL remains committed to integrating counter-radicalization efforts with our work on countering online fraud and extremist financing.
