ASEANAPOL Joins Regional Writeshop on Transnational Investigative Cooperation Against Trafficking in Persons
30 September 2026
Strengthening regional cooperation against trafficking in persons through practical and coordinated action.
ASEANAPOL participated in the Regional Writeshop on Strengthening Transnational Investigative Cooperation under the HSU Process Mechanism in Manila, Philippines.
Representing the ASEANAPOL Secretariat, Police Colonel Jean Mary Mangahis, Director for Plans and Programmes, joined representatives from ASEAN Member States and regional partners in discussions aimed at enhancing cooperation in the investigation of Trafficking in Persons (TIP) cases across borders.
The writeshop provides an important platform to review and refine the HSU Transnational Investigative Cooperation Practical Guidelines and Recommendations, with emphasis on improving cross-border coordination, information exchange, evidence gathering, and cooperation among relevant law enforcement agencies.
The activity also supports continuing regional efforts to strengthen the operationalization of the HSU Process Mechanism and translate regional frameworks into practical cooperation on the ground.
Through its participation, ASEANAPOL continues to promote stronger coordination among law enforcement agencies, closer partnerships with regional and international stakeholders, and practical mechanisms that help Member States respond more effectively to trafficking in persons and other forms of transnational crime.
The writeshop is supported by the ASEAN-Australia Counter Trafficking Programme (ASEAN-ACT) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Regional Office for Southeast Asia and the Pacific (UNODC ROSEAP).
Stronger cooperation. Better coordination. Collective action against transnational crime.
