KUALA LUMPUR: Approximately RM4.3mil worth of drugs were seized following the arrests of three men in Kepong and Seri Kembangan.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Saiful Azly Kamaruddin said the first arrest was that of a 24-year-old man at Jalan Metro Perdana, Barat 7 in Kepong around 4.30pm on Jan 8 after receiving a tip-off.
"We seized 1kg of methamphetamine, 1,155 Erimin 5 pills, 192g of ecstasy along with a car and RM400 in cash, ” said Comm Saiful Azly.
He added that the investigation led police personnel to Seri Kembangan at 7.45pm on Jan 9, where two 20-year-old men were arrested.
“We seized seized RM106,166 in cash," he told a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters on Wednesday (Jan 13).
Comm Saiful Azly then said that a police team raided a Seri Kembangan residence 15 minutes later and discovered an array of drugs stashed in one of the units.
"We seized various drugs, including 158,500 Erimin 5 pills, 3.7kg of ecstasy, 100 cannabis-based cigarettes, 8.9kg ketamine and 680g methamphetamine. We also seized a vehicle and RM53,800 cash," he said.
Comm Saiful Azly said that the total drugs seized were worth RM4.3mil and could have supplied 195,480 addicts, adding that the syndicate has been operating for about two months and they catered to the Klang Valley market.
"We are still investigating the source of the drugs.The suspects have been remanded until Jan 15," he said.
Comm Saiful Azly said KL police will be more aggressive in combating drug trafficking syndicates in the city.
"Despite the start of the movement control order, we believe drug traffickers will always find ways to distribute their drug supplies. We are staying vigilant and we will combat them thoroughly," he said.
He also thanked the public for their cooperation.
