THE SECRETARIAT PARTICIPATES ON THE THIRD REGIONAL POLICE CONFERENCE ON THE USE OF PRACTICAL-BASED TRAINING FOR POLICE OFFICERS

The ASEANAPOL Secretariat, represented by its Director for Police Services (DPS) Police Senior Superintendent Ferdinand Realtor P Bartolome, participated on the Third Regional Police Conference on the Use of Practical-Based Training for Police Officers jointly Hosted by the Indonesian Police Academy (AKPOL) and the Hanns Seidel Foundation (HSF) at AKPOL, Semarang, Indonesia from 22-23, 2017.


The Conference which was also participated by representatives from the Indonesian Police Academy, Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC) and the Thai Royal Police Cadet Academy (TRPCA), was aimed to fosterregional cooperation in the implementation of practical case-based training for police officers in the Southeast Asian Region.






The Two-Day Conference was opened by a remarks from Mr. Goezt Heinecke followed by the Keynote Speech of AKPOL Governor Police Inspector General Dr. H. Rycko Amelza Dahniel, MSi., represented by Police Superintendent Adi Kuntoro, stressing on the significance of the meeting in the improvement of our human resources for the maintenance of public safety and order in our respective community.



The conference was very successful, highlighting some of the best practices on scenario-based training by the participants.  AKPOL presented the Indonesian Police best practices on social conflict management, PPSC lectured on the Philippine Policebest practices on community policing in dealing natural and man-made disaster while TRPCA extended on the Thai Police best practices on the implementation of commissioned and non-commissioned courses.

AKPOL also presented “The Indonesian Experience on the Transition from Military to Civilian-Oriented Policing, the Director of Bavarian Second Stand-by Police Academy Mr Hubert Mueller, on the other hand, shared the Comprehensive Modular Training in Presenting 15 Basic Principles for Implementation and Development while PSSupt Bartolome gave apresentation on Regional Policing Concerns in Police Training.

Jointly Chaired by AKPOL and Hanns Seidel Foundation Heads of Delegations (HODs), the Plenary deliberated and discussed the future challenges of developing practical, case-based training materials, opportunities for information-sharing and exchange among the police training organizations in the region, and evaluation of the program, future directions and HSF support for the continuance of regional dialogue programs.
