On 06 and 07 June 2017, ASEANAPOL Secretariat represented by its ASP for Police Services, ASP Saravanan Munusamy attended the two (2) days Workshop on Capacity Building of Southeast Asian States for Strengthening the Implementation of the UN Programme of Action on Small Arms and Light weapons (SALW).  This capacity building initiative, organised by the Regional Centre United Nations for Peace and Disarmament in Asia and the Pacific (UNRCPD) to strengthen the capacity of Southeast Asian States to implement the UN Program of Action (PoA) in SALW.

The event included hands-on training using the reporting mechanisms of the UN PoA and the International Tracing Instrument (ITI) and also on the National Action Plan describes. Participants from ASEAN member countries and Timor-Leste, which represents the ministries and agencies involved in conventional arms control-related, have met with representatives of ASEANAPOL and UNODA / UNRCPD.

This event was hosted by the Government of Lao PDR in collaboration with UNRCPD and funded by the United Nations Trust Supporting Facilities Cooperation Arms Regulations (UNSCAR).
